You are invited to join us at any of our regular Sunday services. There are several different services which offer different styles of worship for our different congregations.
Whether you have been going to church for many years, or you are a newcomer exploring faith for the first time, you are welcome at any of our services.
8:30am Holy Communion
Start your day with a traditional, quiet celebration of Holy Communion which is a perfect time to pause and reflect.
- The service lasts around half an hour and includes readings, a short sermon, prayers and Holy Communion.
- We sit together in the choir stalls.
- Most weeks the service uses modern contemporary language.
- On the first Sunday of the month we use the traditional language in the Book of Common Prayer.
- There are no hymns to sing in this service.
- Some people prefer to enter and leave the service in silence.
9:30am ABC Church
A lively and noisy service that's perfect for Adults with Babies and Children.
- We gather together on chairs in a circle at the front of the church for around half an hour.
- The bible stories and songs are chosen to appeal to younng children.
- As well as singing we often enjoy crafts together in the service.
- Don't worry if your child is making a noise!
- Join us for tea and toast after the service.
10:30am Family Worship
Worship for people of all ages, often with Holy Communion, and lively hymns and music.
- We sit in the main part of the church for the service which lasts around an hour.
- On the 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays in the month this service includes Holy Communion.
- We always listen to bible readings, a short sermon and pray together.
- We enjoy singing a range of traditional and more contemporary music during the service.
- Some songs are accompanined by the church organ and others with the piano, guitar and other instruments in our worship band.
- There's a Sunday School available in term-time for children to enjoy and also space for younger children to play.
- Please stay for a drink afterwards. We have tea, coffee and squash with biscuits.
6:30pm Online Worship
Enjoy a short service of Online Worship which is recorded for you to watch at home.
- The service includes a short prayer, bible reading, a sermon and a worship song to listen to.
- You can watch the service here on our website as well as on YouTube and social media including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and as an audio podcast.
- Although the service is available from 6:30pm you can watch at whatever time works best for you.
- It's a good way to catch up with church if you're away, or to get an idea of what worship at St John's is like before you visit for the first time.
